This is my blog dedicated to photography and camera gear. I love the old school and collect 35mm film cameras. No commercial camera affiliation.

That's about 6,400 dpi for the TMY. My flatbed offers a 6400 dpi option but delivers nowhere near that, probably 1,600 dpi in the real world. The Sony should digitize at 5,600 dpi, but digital artefacts and my macro lens resolution limits it to around 3,600 dpi.

Compare this to an A7RII (typical modern high res sensor) which has 4.5 micron pixel pitch, implying a similar 110 lp/mm resolution.

Microscopy of film grains. Most are in the range of 1-3 microns. Interesting to note: TMY has 2-3um grains vs 125 lp/mm claimed resolution (8 um per line pair) https://t.co/dxjUpBiYAj

@ILFORDPhoto I have always been shooting film. My mother's 110, my first Polaroid aged 7ish, my darkroom days with FP4 in an FM at 13. It's always been with me, though I neglected it at times.

@aisbaby Not in the city, but in rural areas you get lots of wildlife.

Here's the scan. Lacks critical clarity, but it was certainly a duplicated slide. https://t.co/hO1Utjd495

Finding a 52mm male-to-male attachment when you were really looking for female-to-female. It's like a porn search gone wrong. I can't get no satisfaction. https://t.co/8rGWldjPfY

This week I learned: My hand holding is shakey, focus is sloppy, film is coarse grained and curly, developer is wrong, my lens is soft, my macro lens isn't good enough, my focus has slop, AF is wrong, my camera firmware eats details.. ...AND ALL ERRORS ARE COMPOUNDED

In a sharp image on medium speed film, detail dominates grain, but where out of focus, the grain dominates the micro-textures. Sharply scanned grain can give the illusion of sharpness without distraction from the key subject.

@JonWilkening @IsabelCurdes I've come to the same conclusion before on big lenses. No other way, except to build a shutter by hand.

Note to self: maybe what I need for focus control is a XYX manual slide stage for microscopy and something like a hobby mill bed for a base.

@JonWilkening @ChrisAllanPoe Seems a matter of scoring the card, doing 45 degree cuts at the corners, stick on cover fabric, then paint on light seal.

@JonWilkening From the guides I've seen, it doesn't look to hard to make bellows.

What additional challenges are there for using 20x24 over 8x10? https://t.co/CcGf2hc7nW

@Coolretro72 We are seeing quite a few super fast ultrawide in cropped formats. Surely that means engineers can make the same in FF? Isn't it just a matter of scaling up?
